Mixed Media

The works in this series were created with acrylics, ink, handmade papers, and natural birch bark.

I told my mother I was interested in creating some works using natural materials and wanted to try painting on tree bark. Being the woman she is, she happened to have some birch bark she had saved from the trees behind her home. She gave the bark pieces to me, I asked my daughter to add lettering to some of them, and I layered the pieces with beautiful handmade papers and gold accents. The results are the collaborative works pictured here. Each is one-of-a-kind and not reproducible.
